Straighter Teeth (Without the Social Embarrassment)

Straighter Teeth (Without the Social Embarrassment)

A look at modern, clear style dental braces now available at our Ipswich dental practice.

Have you ever wished that your teeth were straighter than they are? If so, you are probably in the majority.

Uneven teeth can make a smile look less attractive than it could be, yet, many people simply accept the way that things are and continue through life, settling for less than perfectly even teeth.

This may have something to do with the way that dental braces are perceived. Most people probably still think of dental braces as metallic and highly visible. Whilst this type of braces are still available, there are now many modern alternative orthodontics that offer much more comfortable with the added bonus that they are much more discreet too.

Invisible braces

Most modern orthodontics that categorise themselves as ‘invisible braces’, in fact use the same system of wires and brackets that traditional braces do. The difference is that modern versions use ceramic instead of metal for the brackets and both these and the wiring used, are tooth coloured, rendering them less visible. Other orthodontic systems such as Invisalign, eschew this approach altogether and work by using a different method entirely.

Gone are the wires and brackets, and, instead, these are replaced with a series of transparent straightening aligners that are designed to fit directly over the teeth. Many patients that have come to the Foxhall Dental Practice to have their teeth straightened, have used this method to great success.

Ease of use

One of the main benefits of the Invisalign method, apart from the fact that it makes the braces difficult to spot, is that it offers convenience for the wearer. Not only can the trays be easily removed when you clean your teeth but they are designed to be removed when you are eating. This helps to remove one of the biggest obstacles of wearing braces which is the difficulty of eating certain foods without it getting stuck in the braces.

Not only can this be unsightly, but, unless cleaned very thoroughly, can lead to problems such as tooth decay and gum disease.

With the benefit of easy removal for both eating and cleaning, there is little doubt that Invisalign braces are one of the best methods for straightening teeth whilst still maintaining good oral health.
