Accidents Can, and do, Happen

Accidents Can, and do, Happen

Prompt treatment by an emergency dentist in Ipswich can save your teeth.

Although we all take sensible precautions to prevent accidents from happening; paying attention when we cross road and driving sensibly, for example; it is a sad fact of life that accidents do happen, however hard we try to avoid them. Very often, they are completely out of our control. Whilst naturally we hope that none of our patients at the Foxhall Dental Practice suffer from these, we are here to offer assistance should you be unlucky enough to damage any of your teeth.

A&E

Following any accident that involves trauma to the head and neck regions, it is essential that medical help should be sought immediately. This may mean a trip to the A&E department of your local hospital for x-rays etc to ensure that there is no serious damage done. Once you have been given the all clear, then, if there is damage to your teeth, a phone call should be placed to our Ipswich dental practice straightaway so that we can do our best to see you as soon as possible.

Act quickly

By calling the Foxhall Dental Practice as soon as you can, we make every attempt to see you the same day, wherever possible. Should it not be possible, one of our dentists will be able to offer advice on how to care for the damaged teeth in the meantime. As well as for your own comfort, acting quickly can help us to be able to restore your teeth to fully functioning order.

Broken teeth

The most likely consequence of trauma to the facial area is that a tooth, or a few teeth, may break. These will invariably not only leave sharp edges which can cut your lips and cheeks, but will also leave them vulnerable to further breakage. By restoring your teeth as soon as possible, we aim to help you to keep your natural teeth. Where there is only minor damage, all it may take is a filling, or perhaps an inlay or onlay for more significant damage. Where the tooth has actually broken off though, a dental crown may well be the preferred option.

In some instances, the damage may be too extensive for these procedures and an extraction may be the only immediate solution. In the longer run though, we will discuss with you, the various options to replace any lost teeth, including dentures, bridges and dental implants.

Whilst hoping that we never have to treat you because of an accident, it is always good to know that there is an emergency dentist available in Ipswich who can take care of you, should the need arise.
