Gain An Advantage With A Whiter Smile!

In this increasingly competitive world, having an attractive smile could get you across the winning line first

Couple with great smilesThere is no getting away from the fact that life brings plenty of challenges for most of us. Some of these pass naturally, whilst others have to be fought against. Some of these may be out of our control, but others are often of our own choosing. Two examples of this latter case might be when we decide to change our job, whether for better money or job satisfaction, or even if we decide that the time is right for a new relationship.

In both of these cases, many factors will come into play, but especially in the job market, it can be fine margins that decide whether it is you or your nearest competitor that gets the position. Obviously there are many things that are out of the control of your local Ipswich dentists when it comes to helping you to get a job, but there is one thing that we can help with that might just get you over the winning line ahead of your competition. We are, of course, talking about helping you have a whiter and winning smile.

Imagine this scenario; you and your nearest competitor are neck and neck. Both have good qualifications and the right attitude. The decision on who to employ can then depend on other factors. One thing that can help you to get ahead here is if you have a warmer and more attractive smile than your rival. It has been shown time and again, that people are naturally attracted to those with a nice smile, seeing them as warm, welcoming and trustworthy. Why not take this opportunity to get ahead with one of our most popular  cosmetic dental treatments?

Teeth whitening

In many cases, this will be the treatment we will use to ‘spruce up your smile’. Where teeth are relatively mildly discoloured, the non invasive teeth whitening procedure that we use at Foxhall Dental Ipswich will successfully whiten your teeth by several shades. If you wish, you can have this treatment as a one off prior to your interview, but in our experience, many people are so pleased with the result that they embark on a regular treatment to restore the whiteness of their teeth once the effect has started to fade. This can take several months and will depend on your eating and drinking habits among other things, but your new whiteness should last you for some time before any repeat treatment is needed.

There are no risks in having your teeth whitened at regular intervals as long as you use a reliable dental practice. We advise you not to try to take short cuts with ‘at home’ methods, especially those found via the internet, and also not risk using a dentist that you don’t know, abroad. Some people have saved money this way, but others have also regretted their choices, sometimes suffering from long term harm to their teeth in some instances.

Dental veneers

Although the teeth whitening procedure is likely to be your first choice, partially due to the cost and the fact that it requires no invasive dental surgery, it will not be suitable for everyone. Those of you who have smoked regularly in the past (and if you currently do, please stop; it is really harmful for your teeth and gums!) may only get limited benefit from a whitening treatment and may require to have dental veneers fitted instead.

Veneers are usually made from porcelain and take the form of a fine layer of this material that is produced and shaped to replace an equivalent thickness of stained or discoloured enamel from the front of your teeth. Although this often requires an invasive treatment to remove the enamel, the fitting of your porcelain veneers is carried out simply by glueing them to the front of the prepared teeth and then trimming and polishing them to give you a whiter and natural looking smile. This is probably a good time to point out that the adhesive used in a dental clinic is specially made for this purpose and is very different from commercial glues. In the unlikely event that a veneer becomes detached, under no circumstances should you attempt to put it back on yourself. Doing so could seriously damage your teeth. Should this happen to you, simply call our local Ipswich dentist and make an appointment to have it re-attached.

Providing that you look after your new veneers as instructed, they can last you for around ten years before they need to be replaced. So, although they need quite a complex initial treatment, this procedure can provide you with a great looking smile for a significant length of time.

We can’t guarantee that either of these treatments will get you the job that you want, but we are sure that, with your new smile, you will feel happier with your appearance and probably more confident too. This winning combination will hopefully contribute to you achieving your dreams in whatever field you choose.
